Onyx Wood-Fire Pizza — Springdale, Utah
Tucked just off Zion Park Blvd in Springdale, Onyx Pizzeria is a rising star in the local food scene — a place where pizza is taken seriously, and desserts are a must.
From the first bite, you taste the difference: airy crust, slight char, a balance between chew and crisp. Locals and visitors consistently praise the crust as “light,” “top notch,” or comparable to the pizza in New York — “this pizza is by far the best I have ever had.”
It’s not just about the pizza though — they treat everything from soda syrups to gelato in-house. The vibe is cozy yet refined: minimalist touches, natural wood elements, and an atmosphere that invites slowing down after a long day exploring Zion.
Love & Fire
At Onyx, the theme is Love & Fire, and you’ll feel it the moment you walk in. Flames dance in the open kitchen, where pizzas are cooked in a glowing wood-fire oven that guests can watch in action.
-
Find Your Seat – A sign near the entrance lets you know it’s self-seating, so grab a spot wherever feels good.
-
Explore the Menu – Instead of flipping through paper menus, Onyx has an interactive display. Guests can cycle through all the pizza creations on a big TV screen, making it easy to see exactly what you’re craving.
-
Order & Watch – Once you’ve made your choice, place your order, then relax and enjoy the show as the kitchen team works their craft over the fire.
It’s casual, fun, and immersive — an atmosphere where great food meets great energy.
Parking & Shuttle tips
Parking in Springdale can be a little tricky, but here’s the inside scoop:
-
Ride Right Up – Onyx has dedicated e-bike parking out front, so if you’re cruising town on two wheels, you’re set.
-
Onyx’s Own Lot – Behind and along the side of the restaurant you’ll find about 10 customer spots. Snag one if you can.
-
Street Parking – Before 5:30 PM, the roadside spots are pay-per-minute. After 5:30 PM, they’re free, and you can usually find one within a 3–4 minute walk.
-
Shuttle Shortcut – Skip the parking hunt altogether! Hop off the Springdale Shuttle at Stop #7 — it’s only a 1-minute walk to Onyx’s door.
👉 Pro Tip: If you’re planning dinner, come after 5:30 to score free street parking or just take the shuttle and stroll right in.
Onyx Kitchen
At Onyx, the kitchen is the heart of the restaurant, and it’s designed to impress. Guests can watch their meals being crafted in a state-of-the-art, open kitchen that’s both highly efficient and visually exciting.
-
Top-of-the-Line Equipment – Every piece of equipment is carefully selected to maintain high standards of quality and speed.
-
Well-Organized Workflow – Ingredients are prepped and meticulously organized to keep the kitchen running smoothly, so your food arrives quickly without compromising quality.
-
Fast & Flavorful Cooking – The wood-fired oven can cook a pizza in under two minutes, producing a perfectly blistered, chewy crust. The oven uses pecan wood, which imparts a subtle, smoky sweetness to each pizza, enhancing the flavors of the toppings.
-
Interactive Experience – Watching the chefs at work adds to the restaurant’s Love & Fire theme — you’ll see the flames, the precision, and the passion that goes into every pizza.
The kitchen isn’t just where food is made; it’s part of the show, combining efficiency, craftsmanship, and flavor into an unforgettable dining experience.
Bathrooms
Onyx takes the Love & Fire theme even into the bathrooms, creating a space that feels thoughtfully designed and private. Unlike many small-town restaurants, the bathrooms here are clean, modern, and well-maintained, giving guests a comfortable experience.
-
Private & Relaxing – The layout ensures privacy and quiet, letting you step away from the lively restaurant atmosphere for a moment of calm.
-
Themed Design – Subtle nods to the restaurant’s fire-driven theme carry over into the space, with warm lighting and tasteful finishes that complement the overall aesthetic.
-
Guest-Friendly Amenities – Expect the essentials: well-stocked soap, paper towels or hand dryers, and hygienic fixtures.
-
Accessibility & Convenience – The bathrooms are easily accessible from the dining area, making them convenient for families, solo diners, or anyone stopping by after a shuttle ride or bike trip.
In short, Onyx’s bathrooms reflect the same attention to detail as the dining experience — clean, comfortable, and stylish.

“BEST PLACE”
Went there after a tiring day at Zion and we couldn’t be happier! The place has a cozy atmosphere with indoor and outdoor sitting. We had pizza with pepperoni and cesar salads. The salad is GIGANTIC so keep that in mind, I’m pretty sure there was a full breast in there!! Pizza was spectacular: thin, tasty, not heavy at all and baked perfectly. Service was friendly, you order at the desk and then they come bring the food over.
